How long does Coke burn?

Calculate a fuel budget for your Alchemy Factory production line.

The short answer

There is no single time in the community calculator: at a steady heat demand, one Coke supports 600 × fuel multiplier ÷ heat demand per second. With a multiplier of 1 and a demand of 10, that is 60 seconds; at 20, it is 30 seconds. These are model estimates, not measured burn times.

Version & scope: Community model: 1.0.4917. The effect of pauses, heat storage and upgrade levels has not been tested in-game.

Same fuel. Different demand.

The numbers below use a fuel multiplier of 1. Heat demands are example inputs, not the requirements of named machines. A continuously running line consumes its fuel budget faster when it needs more heat.

Same fuel. Different demand.
Example heat demand / secondTime supported by one Coke
5120 seconds
1060 seconds
2030 seconds
4015 seconds

Read the fuel name carefully

The calculator keeps Coke, Coke Powder and Coal separate. Its energy fields are 600, 660 and 540 respectively. These values feed the calculation; they are not durations in seconds. Use the value for the item you are actually supplying.

How to use the estimate

  1. Find the total ongoing heat demand of the line you want to supply.
  2. Keep the units consistent: this formula takes demand per second.
  3. Use the fuel multiplier only when you know how it maps to your settings. The examples here use 1.
  4. Compare the estimate with a short run before committing a large fuel supply.

The underlying calculator computes fuel per minute as heat demand × 60 ÷ fuel energy. A zero load is not a meaningful burn-time estimate in this model; idle behavior needs an in-game check.

Why older answers can differ

Version 1.0 removed the base heat cost of heating devices. An older example that adds that fixed drain can overstate current demand. The community data used here sets the listed heating-device base costs to zero, but that alone does not verify every aspect of real-game burning.
