How to increase selling space
Make more of your shop accessible in Alchemy Factory 1.0.
The short answer
Version 1.0 supports multi-story shops: customers can reach upper floors when the route is usable. You can also remove the original shop entrance and place shop gates in different locations. Expanding where customers can reach is different from simply increasing customer traffic.
Version & scope: Official 1.0 changes and hotfixes through v1.0.4940, September 10, 2026. Exact build-menu steps and unlock costs are not covered.

First, identify the bottleneck
“More selling space” can mean three different things. Choose the fix that matches the problem you see.
| Problem | What to focus on |
|---|---|
| No room for more selling fixtures | Consider a multi-story layout rather than assuming only the ground floor can sell. |
| Customers do not reach an upper selling area | Check the route to that floor and the relevant customer-navigation hotfixes. |
| There is room, but not enough customers | Treat this as customer traffic. The Grand Portal brings visitors; it does not add floor space. |

Plan the route before filling the floor
The official update explicitly connects multi-story shops with careful path planning. Keep a usable connection from the entrance to the selling area, then check that customers actually reach it. Multiple shop gates give you more flexibility in how you arrange access.
These are layout principles, not a specific tile-perfect build. The supported dimensions, fixture limits and exact unlock prices are not established here.

If customers will not go upstairs
Two early 1.0 fixes matter: v1.0.4930 addressed customers getting stuck at the bottom of stairs, and v1.0.4940 addressed customers failing to reach upper floors properly. Check your installed version before treating this behavior as an intentional ground-floor-only restriction.

Do not confuse shop upgrades with foot traffic
The 1.0 update reworked sales upgrades and replaced Reputation with Shop Recognition. It also moved non-production equipment unlocks to the Workbench. Old screenshots and old unlock instructions may no longer match your menus.
The Grand Portal is described as bringing customers from distant cities. Use it as a traffic feature, not a substitute for an accessible selling layout.
