WARDOGS / Field guide
WARDOGS classes: six roles, different jobs
Compare Assault, Medic, Support, Recon, Driver and Pilot.
The short answer
The six progression paths are Assault, Medic, Support, Recon, Driver and Pilot. Your equipment and actions determine your role during each life. Start with a job you can perform reliably, then adapt to what your team needs.
Version & scope: Six-path descriptions come from xREALM’s pre-release guide; official current pages corroborate the broader teamplay roles. Exact launch unlock levels and XP rates are not verified.

All six roles at a glance
Use this as a role comparison. It is not a table of fixed character abilities or a claim that equipment is permanently locked to a class.
| Path | Main contribution | A reason to choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Assault | Frontline infantry and objective fighting | You want to contribute through direct combat and zone presence. |
| Medic | Healing and reviving teammates | You want to keep a nearby group in the fight. |
| Support | Building, repairs and supplies | You prefer sustaining a position or supporting vehicles. |
| Recon | Spotting infantry and vehicles | You want to help with information and observation. |
| Driver | Ground transport | You can move teammates toward the objective. |
| Pilot | Air transport | You can reliably fly teammates or supplies where needed. |

Which class is best for a beginner?
Our recommendation is to start with a simple infantry or nearby support job. That can mean Assault while learning the objective, Medic while staying with a group, or Recon if observation suits you better than rushing.
This recommendation follows the role descriptions and the cash-risk system; it is not a win-rate ranking. Driving or piloting can be valuable, but buying a vehicle before you can use it reliably adds financial risk.

Why there is no universal S-tier here
A driver who gets teammates to the zone may help more than another distant shooter. A medic’s value depends on having teammates to revive. A useful role depends on the objective, your budget and the jobs already covered by the squad.
Choose the role that fills a real gap. The evidence here does not support a numerical class tier list or a claim that one progression track dominates every situation.

Can you change your role?
The role guide describes changing equipment and duties between lives: you can support as a Medic, later scout, and eventually buy a helicopter. That flexibility matters more than choosing a permanent character class at the start.
Exact equipment unlock conditions should be checked in the current game. A pre-release guide is not sufficient evidence for a launch-day XP chart.
